The Next Big Update for Marketing - Facebook Messenger

There are 2 major updates to the world of social media (& messaging) that you need to know - especially if you are a business owner. I'd like to tell you a little about Facebook Messenger first.

As you may already know, Facebook alone has over 1.8 billion active monthly users who are on for about 50 minutes per day. As of 2015, the "Big 4" social media networks had more than 2.5 billion active monthly users. But do you know what's even more jaw-dropping? The "Big 4" messaging apps hit over 3 billion active monthly users around the same time - surpassing social media networks.

There are several popular messaging apps (i.e. KakaoTalk, Line, WhatsApp, Kik, etc.) but among them, the fastest growing messaging app is Facebook Messenger. Now, Facebook Messenger's new update will take the world of social media marketing to the next level. Here's why:

Back in the day, we had little to no access to customers' information so building their information was a huge challenge for both marketers and businesses. However, with Facebook and its Facebook Messenger, people are voluntarily providing all of their personal information (including interests, habits, lifestyles, locations, etc.). So it gives us the ability to create highly-targeted advertisements that are extremely relevant to them. To simply put, this is the most efficient way to get your business discovered and known to people that are most likely to become your customers.

For example, if you are a real estate broker, you can target your ads to be shown to only those who have sold their houses recently or are currently in search for new homes. If you are a sushi restaurant owner, you can target only those who are interested in healthy foods or Asian dishes. The possibilities are endless with Facebook marketing. But with this new update coming to Facebook Messenger, we will be able to target users while they are using Facebook Messenger.

According to TechCrunch, 17 billion photos are sent between people each month, 380 million stickers and 22 million GIFs are sent each day, and 10% of all Voice Over IP (VoIP) calls go through Messenger.

On top of all, the main reason why Facebook Messenger is going to be the next big thing is because it's virtually untapped. It's so new that it will take months (or even longer) for other marketers and businesses to take advantage of this. So be on top of your trend and be one of the firsts to start using Facebook Messenger's hidden power to increase your revenue.
